Though Clams Casino can’t be solely credited for the atmospheric brand of production so prevalent across the blogosphere (and currently creeping into the mainstream through the vessel of artists like A$AP Rocky), his brand of mystical, murky sounds certainly helped define a lane so many now inhabit. Luckily, there’s lots of room for expansion and experimentation within that style. For the past couple of years, British producer Lapalux has developed a style that merges the disjointed vocals so prevalent in Clams’ beats with a shimmering synths and warm bass, crafting an aesthetic both uplifting and haunting, capable of evoking multiple moods at once as the best instrumental music can.
