With his debut album Ice Cold Perm, rapper 100s announced himself as an intriguing new voice in Bay Area hip-hop, combining the traditional sounds of his hometown with other trademarks of the west coast aesthetic. On “Closer” he teams up with fellow Bay Area emcee Mondre, Seattle rapper Nacho Picasso, and production duo Blue Sky Black Death (the latter two of which teamed up on one of the year’s better rap albums, Exalted) for a mellow ride.
