Our introduction to Nervous Nellie came with the Swedish group’s debut song for the U.S., “Gloves.” It didn’t take long to get us hooked. The chorus on that track is a Miike Snow-esque piece of pop brilliance, and it’s just another example of what Swedish music does so well. The songwriting is on par with some of the most popular pop in the world, but it’s also got an interesting twist. Instead of inflating things to the point of obvious and perfect, Nervous Nellie plays with negative space and a human touch, which allows even the most anthemic of hooks to sit nicely without feeling obnoxious and out to get us. It’s a beautiful thing.

Following up the single, we’re happy to premiere the band’s Gloves EP, which will be available on iTunes and Spotify starting February 12. Listen below, exclusively here at P&P.
