It seems like Drake‘s adopting a blitzkrieg strategy to releasing tracks for Nothing Was The Same. It’s working. The star of “5AM in Toronto” is, off the bat, this Boi-1da beat. It’s a pensive monster, built from a flurry of melancholic keys atop booming bass. The result is a similar atmosphere to “Started From The Bottom,” albeit harder-hitting. Drake comes through with no chorus and some notable punchlines—your timeline tomorrow morning will tell you which quotable will be the consensus standout, but my bet after one listen has got to be “That’s why every song sounds like Drake featuring Drake.” Outside bet on “The part I love most is they need me more than they hate me.” Check it out over at the OVO site.
