Vampire Weekend have been steadily unveiling songs from their latest project, Modern Vampires of the City, out on May 14. This latest offering is a strangely American number, as the vocals come in an almost haunting, choir-like cacophony through a sieve of synthesizers and classically dark strings.
“All you who strange your stripes can wrap me in the flag” Ezra Koening croons, and the song wanders through several other New York City references, discussing the city’s history, real estate and, obviously, the Hudson River. Stream the track below, which is an unofficial radio rip, and also check out “Ya Hey” and their other two official singles “Diane Young” and “Step.”
