Music nerds, rejoice. The collaboration album between Elvis Costello and The Roots is now available to stream over at NPR’s First Listen. The two came together after Costello played with the Philly legends on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, yet another example of The Roots redefining what it means to be a house band. Wise Up Ghost is a strangely beautiful fusion of sound, equal parts bluegrass, honky tonk, funk and hip-hop.

The album is full of big brass and orchestral asides, soul grooves lulling you into a satisfied groove that makes it hard to catch everything that’s going on the first time around. There is one thing that’s clear immediately, though: these guys had fun making this album. It flows from front to back, effortless cool.
