The Wyld is part of a new wave of rock-rap hailing from New Zealand. They bring a measured English patience to the combination that elevates their sound above the anger and aggression of the America’s early offerings (Rage Against the Machine, Linkin Park, RHCP). Their new track “Odyssey” brings that same intensity with some booming toms and a sound that verges on orchestral, but they deliver their message in smooth, even tones.

Yesterday, Complex shared the first new music we’ve heard from The Wyld since their debut album Preface. “Odyssey” is off the band’s upcoming Abstract EP. The band says that “‘Odyssey’ expresses our determination to achieve what we set out to achieve, once you’ve gone a certain distance and made sacrifices it often becomes too difficult to turn back due to various expectations, potential and the willingness to push through obstacles.” Stream below:
