On debut song “Echoes,” Irish duo Darling explored a sort of anthemic rock that cut from the cloth of old Muse, with a bit less of a focus on theatrics but no less of a flare for wide-screen cinematic hooks and walls of guitar. Producer Sun Glitters understands that you can squeeze “epic” out of a song without the typical outsized trappings, taking Darling’s source material and turning it into a brooding, slow-building beauty driven by deep bass and echoing piano. Focusing the attention on atmospherics and the original’s soaring vocals, Sun Glitters turns “Echoes” into something that manages to brood without bringing down, mounting sounds and tension up to a cathartic close.
