Compromise is beautiful. There’s something so human about that action, allowing yourself to consider how the other side thinks and recognizing that perhaps you too, are a couple hairs short of flawless.
Who knows what actually happened behind closed doors, but Angel Haze and her Island label have found some middle ground after Haze went the fuck off on Twitter and tried to leak her album on Soundcloud.
The offending stream has been taken down, but Dirty Gold‘s release date moved from March to next week. Haze shared the news in a message to her fans:
Behind every rebel is a fucking reason. Just want to say thank you guys for your support today. Thanks to those who heard the album and fucked with it. Thanks to everyone who stood up for me. My labels didn’t think that I would do it, but I did. It’s hard to put at risk everything I’ve spent this year working on but I had to for both me and you guys. No one should ever be afforded the opportunity to fuck with your dreams. REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY ARE. They do not own you or your faith or your future and because of what you guys helped me show them. My labels have agreed to release Dirty Gold December 30th. Uk & US. (Rest of the world, we are coming for you as well). Thank you all. Night
Today, Haze posted a 13-minute album sampler to her Soundcloud. Whether this was all an elaborate release strategy or real-life industry theater remains to be seen. It won’t matter in the end. We’re here for the music, and you can stream the sampler below:
