Kelela had a breakout year in 2013 off the back of her CUT 4 ME mixtape, and she’s kept thing moving this year with a solo track “The High” and now a new collaboration with Night Slugs boss and all around underground dance music hero (he made this!) Bok Bok. He produced “Guns & Synths” and “A Lie” on Kelela’s mixtape, and this new track “Melba’s Call” is the first single from a forthcoming EP, scheduled for release this spring.

Where “The High” saw Kelela exploring the woozy, late-night R&B that is so popular right now, “Melba’s Call” sounds like little else out there right now, with the production mixing grime’s hard edges with fizzing, funky synths and cavernous bass. Kelela, of course, kills it too.
