Between Naomi Pilgrim’s fantastic “No Gun,” which we premiered last fall, and her follow-up cover of Lady’s “Money,” the Swedish/Barbadian musician is someone we’ve been excited about hearing new music from. Today, we get the chance to hear her debut EP, which includes both aforementioned tracks as well as a brand new one entitled “Rainmakers.” According to Pilgrim, the EP is a blend of her cultural influences, telling Noisey:
When I was growing up, my father was in a reggae band and my mom always played Sister Nancy and Jimmy Cliff at home. Of course I have the Swedish culture and music in my veins as well, but I guess you will see it more in my movement. It’s not something there for the sake of it. If it’s there, it’s just there. If it’s in my music, it’s there because of my influences.
