Captain Planet’s chosen artist name seems very apt for his new album, a globe-trotting collection of beats and collaborations with artists from Argentina, Brazil, Sudan, Germany, America, and more. On “Cicada,” which is available for free download via the cart icon on the player below, he uses the sound of cicadas as the starting point to take us on an engrossing journey through warm, rolling percussion and sudden, powerful melodies that immediately bring to mind the epic chorus of TALA’s latest single “Alchemy.”

“Cicada” reminds us that you absolutely do not need words to tell a story through music, so open your mind and your ears, and go on an adventure with Captain Planet. His new album, Esperanto Slang, will be out October 7 via Bastard Jazz. Pre-order here.
