There’s a lot of electro-pop and electro-R&B that subsides on the standard verse/bridge/chorus/repeat formula. There’s nothing wrong with that. Some of my favorite songs over the last few years are constructed just like this and it works incredibly well for them. But then there are artists like TOTEMO who have an original and exciting depth. Her music nicely toes the line between experimental and risky. She hits a minor chord when we’re expecting a major one. It’s refreshing.

“Heavy As My Dreams” is the Tel Aviv singer’s latest, a celestial yet dark electronic production with a mesh of trip hop elements. The track is off her EP of the same name, due out November 3. Listen to it below.
