We first encountered Shamir when we got to know Brooklyn-based indie label GODMODE and their COMMON INTERESTS WERE NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP US TOGETHER compilation, and really fell in love with his unique voice on his debut EP NorthtownToday, Shamir announces signing with the always excellent XL Recordings and shares a new song and video, “On The Regular.” It’s a fun and funky mixture of a bouncy basssline, cowbell and, somewhat surprisingly, Shamir rapping.
