Devonté Hynes is going back to his roots. The Blood Orange frontman brings a cello (his first instrument) to the table on “Delancey,” a new song recorded this week in New York. It’s a sparse, moody track that showcases Dev’s falsetto and ear for melody.

Running at just 02:15, this is still just a demo. But the wheels are moving—he’s playing new music tonight at the Tibet House Benefit Concert and has been in the studio with some surprising collaborators. Hopefully the Blood Orange floodgates are starting to open.
