You may have gotten a chance to stream Jamie xx’s upcoming album In Colour on iTunes ahead of its June 2nd release date. If so, you are undoubtedly assured of its greatness.

But Jamie threw a curveball last night for BBC Radio 1, releasing a mix of alternate versions from In Colour. Artists naturally go through various mixes of a song before they finally decide on the mastered version for the album, but it’s rare to actually get a peek behind the curtain and hear what didn’t make the cut.

But that’s exactly what Jamie’s done here, unleashing a 24-minute mix on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1. Highlights include a more restrained “Seesaw” and a meditative version of “Stranger in a Room.”
