It’s always great when your favorite producers let us know they’re still alive and making captivating material. We’ve not heard from Rustie since April, when he applied his magic touch to a Big Dope P track, and today he’s back with a beefier take on Gammer’s 2014 happy hardcore smash “Nostalgia.”

Surprisingly, this makes sense.

Earlier this year, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, and Jackmaster linked up for a special show, paying tribute to their old raving days with a selection deep in ’90s trance and happy hardcore tunes. Hell, HudMo even commissioned a Gammer edit of “Chimes” last year.

None of this should be keeping you away from loving this tune; it’s still a massive Rustie banger, and the world of trap music has dipped so deeply into the synths and melodies of the trance and hardcore lanes that Flosstradamus got into hot water three years ago for heavily sampling producers like Showtek and Headhunterz.

If we’re keeping it 100, it’s those spastic hardcore flourishes playing off of those monstrous drums that really make this one special. A perfect, magical escape for your summertime turn-up.
