Much has changed since the summer of 2014 when we last covered material created by HINDS. The Spain-based band still recorded under the name Deer and had yet to bring two new members into the fold. Now a quartet, the premise of the group’s sound has fortunately not wavered.

“Chili Town” channels Mediterranean sun and sensibly playful lyrics. The song is their first original work of the year, having only released a couple covers in recent months. The intentionally messy mix bolsters the track’s brightness. Humorous couplets match matter-of-fact statements; cigar-stealing and flirtatious encounters unfold, the musicians always in control.

Listen to the record below, and be sure to read our Daily Discovery with the founding members as you do.
