As summer starts to wane (sorry), it’s time to find some sigh-inducers. Hazel English has found one such indie rock sweet spot: her first hit, “Never Going Home,” is a soothing swarm of blissed out, blurry guitars and reverberating vocals.
The follow-up takes a brighter turn, but the feels are still alive and well. “It’s Not Real” is an “ode to staying geniune,” and Hazel’s warm, reassuring vocals are once again accompanied by a host of angelic guitars. She has a knack for these bittersweet melodies, and the resulting sound is a perfect soundtrack for these warm, hazy nights.
