The middle of the work week can get quite hectic at times, and some days all we really need is a simple reminder to just slow down and smell the roses for once. In the midst of chaos, Matt Maltese’s latest single “Studio 6” feels like a breath of fresh air and the ideal soundtrack for these reflective moments.
Matt Maltese is a 19-year-old singer from South London with a notable gift for songwriting. His new single is a down-tempo, piano-led ballad produced by Alex Burey, another emerging talent from South London. Burey provides the simplistic instrumentation that allows Maltese’s vocals and lyrics to take centerstage on this dreamy track.
Maltese explains that “Studio 6” came together in a way that was as effortless and organic as the song sounds. “I’d heard some of [Burey’s] music on Soundcloud and thought it was beautiful—I felt like a proper fanboy when we met,” says Maltese. “I played him some demos, and we started hanging out and making music together. I wrote ‘Studio 6’ in the space of an evening, and Alex and I pretty much recorded all of it the next day.”
