Usher returned earlier this year with the powerful “Chains,” which featured both Nas and Bibi Bourelly. It’s clear that Usher is looking to take a bit of a different, bolder direction with his newer material, and that’s even more evident with his latest single, “No Limit.” While not quite as heavy as “Chains,” Usher’s latest is definitely a step away from his more usual fun take on R&B, featuring none other than Young Thug contributing a verse.
Adapting perfectly to the track, Young Thug absolutely shines when he shows up during the last third of the song, but his touch can be felt throughout the entire thing, showing up for some idiosyncratic ad-libs behind Usher’s smooth vocals. Produced by Brandon “B.A.M.” Hodge and Christopher Perry, “No Limit” is taken from his forthcoming eighth album, Flawed.
Having previously announced the album in January, the album still doesn’t have a release date, but it’s expected to release sometime later this year. Following his restrained collaboration with Diplo back in 2012, “Climax,” Usher has been willing to push himself musically to create more adventurous music beyond his usual club-ready songs.
