After pushing its release back due to sample clearing issues, Topaz Jones has finally shared his new album—and it couldn't have arrived at a better time. As the bleak days of winter approach, Arcade is a bright explosion of funk, soul, and hip-hop that'll slide in nicely on any Halloween weekend dance playlists you're working on.
Speaking with us before the album's release, Jones remarked, "Movement is big for me, I love music that makes you move," and the ten song project delivers on those sentiments. Soaring guitar solos, pulsing funk-inspired basslines, and addicting harmonies meld together for a fearless sound that's impossible not to move to. And through it all, he manages to deliver lyrical substance.
"I’ve always found issue with saying things the right way so you can sneak the medicine in the candy," he told us. "But if 2016 in music has taught us anything, it’s that it’s time to not hold back any more, and just speak freely about how fucked up shit is. And how to make it better."
