It feels like Yung Lean hasn't stopped this year, keeping himself busy with a number of projects within music and outside of music. Experimenting with music under different names, including his birthname, Leandoer has definitely been keeping his fans happy in 2016. Now he's returned to his Yung Lean alias a lot sooner than expected, with the somber Acea-produced "Hennessy & Sailor Moon," which features frequent collaborator Bladee.
Moving in a different direction from the remarkably dark Warlord, which released earlier this year, "Hennessy & Sailor Moon" is just as emotional as Leandoer's earliest material. However, there's a stronger sense of Leandoer's maturation on display here, resulting in melancholy song that feels more like a step forward than a throwback. The Léo Siboni-directed video features Leandoer alone in a club, matching the bittersweet tone of the song perfectly.
It remains to be seen if this is part of a larger release or not, but with Lean set to appear on Travis Scott's .WAV radio show later today, it seems we won't have to wait too long to find out. Hopefully this means a new record from Yung Lean is on the way sooner than we initially thought.
