Pharrell's throwback kick continues with the latest single from the Hidden Figures soundtrack—the fifth song he's contributed to the film so far.
Following similarly 60s and 70s-influenced songs like "Runnin" and "Crave," Pharrell channels Motown and gospel on the feel-good track, singing affirming lines like "Don't you know that we're able? Let alone makes us major / We can now sit at the table / And grow in his favor."
"It lifts women in an amazing way," Pharrell told Southern California Public Radio about the film. "It wasn't a movie about a weekend trip or divorces or whatever. It's a movie about three African American female protagonists who were into science, technology, engineering and mathematics." He continues, "We thought, 'Why not give them music that felt a little more hopeful toward them?' We really wanted to think about that."
