We’ve heard from First Rate People before, with their track “American Life,” which was probably best described as adorable and delightful. I’ve dug up some more tracks from the Canadian band, and making light indie-pop is not all these guys do. “Funny Games” is far more electronic oriented, with some big percussion and layered vocal samples, but it doesn’t stray too far from the other stuff I’ve heard from them, all of which has been great. “Full Nelson” is only billed as a demo, but it may just be my favorite track I’ve heard from these guys. That girl singer needs to be in every song they record, because she steals the show here. It’s a darker song than I’m used to from them, telling a pretty ambiguously sinister story. Good stuff.
