Good songs transcend genre. Nirvana’s make-noise-and-break-shit spirit and gritty, sometimes abrasive style of rock–labeled as grunge–is about the furthest you can get from reggae. Still, ’70s reggae pioneer Little Roy has decided to make a whole album of Nirvana covers called Battle For Seattle. The most surprising part? It sounds pretty good. I guess if Willie Nelson can do reggae, then Little Roy can do grunge. I still think Miley Cyrus should not be allowed to cover “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
