The basics: after watching entities such as Megaupload and Limewire crash and burn, the hacker group Anonymous, which has demonstrated a huge array of high profile Internet activism demonstrations, have decided to enter the music streaming arena. Their service is going to be called Anontune, and they have billed it as a social music platform. The program will pull streaming songs from all over the Internet, including third party streaming sources like Youtube, and put them on one centralized platform.

It’s a wildly ambitious undertaking and one that has promise to shake up the industry if it works the way Anonymous expects it will. Either way, very interesting stuff. The site is in its early stages but you can check it out in its current form at http://www.anontune.com/. Watch the video below and head over to Wired for a more comprehensive explanation.
