It seems like dystopian settings are a big deal in music videos these days. I might be exaggerating but it just seems like a trend that’s been picking up as of late, and this video fits pretty well into that storytelling trope at its outset. It’s got the same desolate, abandoned atmosphere of a true post-apocalyptic environment, but the feeling pervades that it’s actually probably just a deserted corner of America existing in the real world right now. It’s a cool setting. Then shit gets weird. The song is a really good one, regardless.
