We’ve been waiting on this one. The newest single/video combination from the ever-striking Woodkid. The French artist has been pushing his visual aesthetic through a series of videos, most notably with his recent work for Drake. However, his over-the-top style and thematic images have seemed to work best with his own music.
“Run Boy Run,” like “Iron,” still uses animals, sweeping expanses and sharp camerawork paired up with a dramatic, heroic narrative indebted to medieval sensibilities. It’s a unique style, and one that works well with the barrages of percussion and swelling orchestration Woodkid uses as his sonic background. This is the kind of art where you almost forget there’s a good song playing behind the overwhelming spectacle, so you might want to buy the EP on iTunes to have the soundtrack by itself.
