When Azealia Banks concentrates on her her art there’s no doubt that she is a force to be reckoned with. “Liquorice,” which is from her recently released 1991 EP, is a lyrical workout over a bouncy, starburst of a beat by Lone and combined with the video, demonstrates all that is fresh and fun about Ms Banks. You get the excellent choice in production, the crude but dexterous rapping, a bit of singing and some striking and memorable visuals. This is no simplistic “212” video though – Azealia Banks has come a long way in a short time, and is now hanging with high fashionistas like Nicola Formichetti, who styled her for the video, which was directed by Rankin.
