Concertgoers in Clearwater, Florida got much more than expected last Saturday night. Fiona Apple, who has recently been engulfed in controversy due to her arrest and subsequent response to law enforcement, took the stage early before her performance to speak on issues recently affecting her reputation.

She spoke out specifically against Perez Hilton, who recently hired a team of experts that allegedly determined that Apple is mentally ill. Apple responded, “To hire ‘experts’ to comment and say that I am sick is totally, totally irresponsible, and dangerous, and you should know better, and so should everybody who’s talking about me like that. And I’m not on any drugs. I had some bourbon before I came out here. I’ve always been honest—why would I be dishonest about anything?”

Apple continued on to offer more general statements against a variety of other media outlets, asking them to “lay off with that stuff because it hurts my feelings. If for no other reason, that should be a good enough reason. Stop hurting people’s feelings, stop bullying people because you were bullied.”

Later on that night, Fiona spoke out against those questioning her physical appearance. “Don’t call me frail. I’ll beat the hell out of you.”
