In late October Arcade Fire drummer Jeremy Gara shared with Ottawa radio station CKCU 93.1 that the band had recently been in the studio recording new material for their follow up to 2010’s excellent release, The Suburbs. While a name or specific drop date for the album have yet to be announced, another rather massive piece of information has just been confirmed: LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy is in the studio working with the group on their fourth full-length album.

In a feature with Music Week the band’s manager Scott Rodger stated, “They’re in with James Murphy on three or so songs, plus Markus Dravs who is a long-time collaborator. They write too many songs – that’s a good problem to have. There’s around 35 songs with Arcade Fire, two albums’-worth for sure.”

Does this mean we’ll be receiving a new double disc from the Montreal band come late 2013? Time will tell. For now we’ll just have to rest comfortably with the news that their forthcoming release is good collaborative hands.
