Governors Ball 2013 was a fucking mess. After heavy rain on Friday, the field on Randall’s Island in New York City turned into a sloppy mud puddle six inches deep. But the show went on and on Sunday, June 10th, just two days after Kanye’s 36th birthday, he took the stage as the final headlining act. As expected, he killed it. He performed some new material and delivered another classic rant. While the other hip-hop acts at Governors Ball told the crowd to make noise and put their hands in the air, Kanye decided to take a different route.
We ain’t drop no single to radio. We ain’t got no big NBA campaign or nothing like that. Shit, we ain’t even got no cover. We just made some real music.
Honestly at this point when I listen to radio, that ain’t where I wanna be no more. Honestly at this point, I could give a fuck about selling a million records.
