In a recent interview with NME, Chance the Rapper revealed he’s thinking about leaving his childhood home in Chicago. “I’ve never lived anywhere other than this house,” Chance said, “the one I grew up in in Chicago. It will probably be like being on vacation for the first couple of months. Then I’ll start figuring out what kind of music I’ll be making.”
Chance will be moving to Los Angeles, and he’ll have a new roommate: James Blake. “We’re probably going to make a bunch of shit every day,” Chance continued. “I don’t know what we’re going to do with it. We might give some shit to other artists. We’re getting a compound.”
It’s taking every moral fiber in my body not to start a campaign to rig the house with hidden cameras and immediately campaign to make this a reality show. I can see the byline now: moody English genius moves in with streetwise Chicago rapper to make the greatest album of all time.
In an earlier interview with MTV, the two provided details about the future abode. Chance insisted on a “swaggy spot…with the four-person bunk beds with the slide at the top.” Blake was a little more hesitant, but definitely kinda into it:
Specifics are scant at this point. Maybe press coverage of all this will freak them out and make it weird. For now, however, I’ll keep thinking about the prospective awkward roommate moments between the two, like when Chance has to confront JB about not doing his own dishes.
