Lorde’s debut album Pure Heroine first appeared on the Billboard 200 chart in October. It hasn’t left the top 20 since, and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere any time soon. It’s currently sitting at the No. 6 spot, right between Katy Perry and Beyoncé. Not bad for a teenager from new Zealand who, a year ago, had never even been on a plane.
Now Lorde has a couple of Grammys and another top 10 hit with “Team,” and she’s gearing up to release her third Pure Heroine single, “Glory and Gore.” This last week, she also reached another milestone: a million in U.S. album sales. Lorde is the first woman to sell a million in the U.S. with a debut album since Adele with 19 in 2011.
