It’s not easy to make music that sounds both threatening and enjoyable, but frenzied production wizard NAH manages it quite frequently. Fit with an intimidating swagger of sorts, his chaotic and unsettling production benefits from the obtuse rapping of mysterious frequent collaborator GIVV. Dingy with a punch, “Rather Die” makes a compelling case for the combined talents of the two. Its accompanying Brandon Kuzma-directed video is equally as grimy and rough, pairing its grayscale self with the seedy slaps of the track perfectly.

Having opened for Death Grips in the past, NAH’s output fills a very particular void for those looking for adventurous and vitriolic hip-hop.
