At the end of every year, Rap Genius compiles all of statistics for different artists and songs over the course of the past year. Usually it provides us with some pretty interesting results, and this year is no exception. Despite only releasing a handful of tracks this year, Drake was the most viewed artist on Rap Genius in 2014. Mostly relying on tracks from Nothing Was The Same, Drake took the top spot even though he only appeared in the top 20 most viewed songs of 2014 list three times.
The most viewed artist list also doesn’t take into account any songs the artist is featured on, making Drake’s appearance all the more surprising. Childish Gambino also made an appearance on the list at number six, beating out both Jay Z and Lil Wayne. It’s also worth noting that the two most viewed songs of the year, “Drunk In Love” and “Rap God,” both came out in 2013, and Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d city” made its way into the list at number nine.
