FKA twigs recently stunned New York audiences with her series of breathtaking Congregata shows in Brooklyn, multimedia affairs that showcased, among other things, Twigs’ ethereal dancing.

The choreography featured voguing, a style that she’s only been learning for the past year and a half according to the interview above. Twigs included pro-voguers in her cast, however, which led to this interview with Ballroom Throwbacks, a web series devoted to underground ballroom culture and voguing.

In the interview (which took place just before the final performance), she discusses her inspirations, and how she approaches the incorporation of voguing, essentially, to avoid appropriation. Her portion starts at around the 13:30 mark—watch above (the video also includes footage of her performance).
