With her star now fully ascended, FKA twigs is weighing her next move. Complex caught up with the English alt-pop star for their June/July cover story, and twigs had a lot to get off her chest.

From her new role as a paparazzi target (thank you, Robert Pattinson) to balancing responsibilities as a director, choreographer, and musician, the life of twigs is currently in full whirlwind mode. Check out some highlights below and read the full story over at Complex.

Looking back on her first album:

When I did LP1, I had a really deep, weird self-loathing. I was weirdly self-harming through the people who I was forcing on myself… I didn’t have a lot of respect for my heart. Now I have way more respect for my heart.

On her upcoming EP3:

I try and make it as visceral as possible, I want people to hear the sinews in the drums and the clicking sounds. I want it to feel physical, like it’s in your body, because that’s how I feel.

On her portrayal in the media:

I feel like people don’t realize that I have a sense of humor about things. I’m very goofy, and I’ve enjoyed being able to incorporate some of that into my work, but still have a really serious message behind it.

Facing down paparazzi:

It is pretty horrible, but ultimately, I’m in an amazing relationship. So it doesn’t matter.
