No piece of the XXL Freshmen rollout is more anticipated than the cyphers—save for the names and faces that grace the cover itself. With the profiles and individual freestyles all released, the first of several cyphers kicks off today. A diverse group, comprised of Raury, Tink, Kidd Kidd, and K Camp, come together to showcase their rhyming prowess in a raw setting. DJ Drama returns to administer a dark, warbling beat produced by Viz the Hitman, evoking aggressive raps from the artists.

Tink spits viciously and manages to reference selfie sticks without sounding corny. Raury calls out a “deflated” industry, and K Camp and Kidd Kidd hold their own. Watch the video above and stay tuned for the remaining cyphers.
