At Ottawa Bluesfest last weekend, Kanye West emphatically cosigned Chance The Rapper, calling him one of “the most talented young new artists,” and hinting at a forthcoming collaboration. There is some amazing footage of Chance’s (naturally) incredibly excited reaction to Kanye’s words and today we have confirmation that the two Chicagoans have been working on music together.
This morning, Chance was a guest on Windy City LIVE!, and one of the first questions was about Kanye. Chance shares his admiration for Kanye—“He’s just my favorite musician, I look up to him a lot”—and when pushed on the rumored collaboration, Chance confirms that they’ve been working together, saying, “Me and Kanye and a lot of Chicago artists, a lot of dope artists, are working on a collaborative effort that will be released tentatively.”
Chance goes on to talk about working with kids in the city, his plans for Pitchfork festival, how he linked up with Donnie Trumpet, and more. Finally, Chance, Donnie, and The Social Experiment perform “Sunday Candy” from Surf. Check it all out above.
