Straight Outta Compton has officially been in theaters for a week, and the response has been incredible. The film currently holds the number one spot at the box office and has already earned over $80 million, so far. After such a successful opening week, it’s been reported that a sequel for the film is already in the works.
According to TMZ, the film won’t exactly be furthering the storyline of N.W.A., instead the movie—expected to titled Dogg Pound 4 Life—will focus on the development of the careers of Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Kurupt, Daz, as well as Suge Knight.
The film reportedly will not feature the same actors in the role of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre—none of the original cast is expected to be part of this film as of right now. Neither Ice Cube or Dr. Dre will be producers on this film, but TMZ reports that Ice Cube has already signed off on the film and that Dr. Dre’s son, Curtis Young, will reportedly play the role of his father.
Though it’s still very early to know how official any of this news is and what the final outcome will be, if Dogg Pound 4 Life comes to life that will mean yet another biopic surrounding Tupac will be in the works. Production around Tupac films haven’t been entirely smooth processes in the past, so let’s hope things are more successful this time around.
