Earlier this month Grimes announced dates for her upcoming North American tour, which is set to begin in October. Now she reveals that a tour isn’t the only exciting thing she has planned for October. In a recent in-depth interview with Dazed, Grimes announced that her new album will be released as a surprise sometime in October.

Though announcing a surprise ahead of time seems like it would defeat the entire purpose, Grimes didn’t reveal an exact date or an album title for that matter—explaining that the title will be revealed the day before it hits iTunes. Grimes did however explain the sound of her upcoming album saying, “Lyrically, it’s more political and less abstract than before.”

Going further to explain the concept behind the album, she says: “There’s a song that’s from the perspective of a butterfly in the Amazon as people are cutting down trees; there’s a song that’s from the perspective of angels who are polluted, so they’re crying polluted tears. I feel like it’s more about the Earth. I think I was more in society when I was making it, so it feels more grounded.”
