Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake have been performing their beloved “History of Rap” series since 2010, with a new installment arriving every year without fail. Performing iconic hip-hop hits from roughly 30 years of history, the pair have been pushing themselves further and further each year. They’ve thrown out the idea of performing it in chronological order this time, however, with the hugely varied sixth entry in the series.
Starting with R. Kelly and Jay Z’s “Fiesta” and ending with Beastie Boys’ “Fight For Your Right,” the sixth “History of Rap” jumps around in time quite a bit. Performing tracks from the likes of N.W.A., Public Enemy, Drake, Big Sean, Kanye West, and even Fetty Wap, “History of Rap 6” is perhaps the craziest in the series yet. Hearing Justin Timberlake covering Fetty’s “My Way” is a fantastic time, and it’s pretty much worth watching the whole thing for that moment alone.
