If you haven’t seen pictures from Taylor Swift’s 1989 tour which feature her with special surprise guests (like St. Vincent, Alanis Morissette, John Legend, Kobe Bryant and even Fetty Wap), then consider yourself lucky because for the rest of us it’s been shoved down our throats every time we log onto any social media. But there is one singer we shouldn’t expect to see up there: Rihanna.

In her cover interview with NME, Rihanna told the magazine that she wouldn’t join Taylor on stage because the pairing doesn’t “make sense” to her. “I don’t think I would. I just don’t think it makes sense,” she stated. “I don’t think our brands are the same, I don’t think they match, I don’t think our audiences are the same. In my mind she’s a role model, I’m completely not.” I don’t know what we did to deserve Rihanna but thank God she’s here.

Read the rest of her interview (the first in the now FREE NME) when the magazine hits stands September 18.
