A$AP Ferg dropped by Hot 97 recently for an extensive talk about A$AP Yams, Drake vs. Meek Mill, and his new album. During his chat, he talked about how he felt he lost Yams before his untimely death: “I felt like we got to the point we lost the physical being of Yams… It was due to a bunch of outside substances, [and] he just wasn’t himself anymore. I knew certain people just weren’t good for him.”
When it was brought up that Ferg was close with Meek and he was asked to give his thoughts on the whole beef with Drake that happened earlier this year, he responded saying, “It was good for hip-hop.” Talking about how he came up through a more battle rap oriented background, Ferg said, “That’s what makes it fun… at the end of the day we all like gladiators, you gotta choose and pick a side.” He also mentioned how competition has weakened over the years: “I think the internet makes people more pussy. I think nobody wants to compete against each other.”
It’s also worth noting that during the interview, Ferg mentioned that he didn’t want to commit to a date, but his forthcoming album is due “very soon.” Watch the full interview above.
