Next month Mass Appeal Records will be releasing Rubble Kings: The Album, a soundtrack for “Rubble Kings,” a documentary that unfolds how New York’s gang culture birthed a new generation of music. Today, the video for the lead single by Run The Jewels is shared with some fun animation. The animated video for “Rubble Kings Theme (Dynamite)” mirrors the story told within the documentary.

Shan Nicholson, the director of both the video and documentary further explains the concept:

This video was inspired by the Rubble Kings documentary and the works of the great Ralph Bakshi. The video depicts a story of street justice in the turbulent streets of the 1970′s South Bronx. We follow “Little Nina,” who’s violently attacked by a rival gang on her way home from her grandmother’s house. What follows is an all out rumble between her gang, the fictionalized “Rubble Kings” and the “Javelins.” Run the Jewels alongside producer Little Shalimar provide the rugged soundtrack to the piece.

Rubble Kings: The Album will officially be released via Mass Appeal Records on January 15. The soundtrack will also feature tracks from Killer Mike, Bun B, Ghostface Killah, and more. Pre-order it here.
