Outkast legend André 3000 popped up on The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show on DISH Nation where L.A. Reid was being interviewed about his latest book Sing to Me. Judging from the reactions of the hosts, it was a genuine surprise, and they were lucky enough to have André stick around and speak a little on the current state of rap, artists he’s feeling, his son’s rap skills, and more.

In the video above, André says that Kid Cudi’s Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven album is “the best thing to come out in a long time,” and that Future and Young Thug are “charging up the rap game.” Below, he breaks down the art of freeestyling and explains how many current rappers don’t write lyrics at all.

André 3000, it’s always good to hear from you.
