Less than a month before his 13th birthday, Kanye West was at a party and, with a camera in his face, young ‘Ye busted out a few rhymes and some dance moves. That video from May 17, 1990 has now surfaced, and it was supposedly filmed by Kanye’s mother, the late Donda West.

The lyrics are hard to make out in the 18-second clip, but he definitely throws his name in there at least a couple times and ends with the line “Nothing less could come from West” before the person behind the camera laughs and says, “Get out of town, Kanye!” There’s also another video from around the same time of Kanye reading a poem about Martin Luther King, Jr. at a middle school function.
