Sparsh Shah—or PURYTHM—is a 12-year-old who was born with an incurable disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta. The disease makes his bones extremely brittle; even a hand shake could potentially break his bones. But that didn’t stop him from putting his dream into motion and recording an impressive cover of his “biggest idol ever” Eminem’s “Not Afraid.” From vocalizing, to piano playing, to rapping, Shah nails it with his rendition, which was recorded in hopes of inspiring “billions of people one day.”
Here’s what he had to say about his song choice (via his Facebook page):
I feel like “Not Afraid” has been my power song ever since I heard it for the first time and Eminem became my idol in the rap genre. He has inspired me so much with his powerful songs and lyrics (minus curses), and I aspire that one day, I could get to meet him and sing (or rap!) with him. It’s always been my dream to inspire BILLIONS of people one day with my musical talent, and I wish that dream comes true. I need your support for that, so please be “Not Afraid” to like my Facebook page and share this song with everyone you know.
